Design Director, Cooking.com | 2015 - 2016
CHEFS Catalog was founded in 1979 by Chicago native Marshal Marcovitz, inspired by his travels and Europe and the popularity of Julia Child's French style of cooking, aspired to bring professional restaurant equipment to the home chef here in America. Over the years, CHEFS continued to thrive as a catalog company but also opened retail stores in both Chicago and Highland Park, Illinois. In 1989, Marcovitz sold the company to Neiman Marcus Direct and moved its operations to Dallas, Texas. In 2004, the company was sold to JH Partners and was moved to Colorado Springs.
In 2013, Target acquired the company and combined the expertise of the CHEFS and Cooking.com teams to form one unified group, TC4 Cooking Company. My team's strengths in design and branding was tapped to re-brand CHEFS Catalog, and to migrate the CHEFS website onto an updated platform. Below you'll find the website and style guides we created to refresh the CHEFS Catalog brand. Unfortunately, in late 2015, Target made the decision to shut down CHEFS Catalog in order to shift focus to other internal initiatives.
